Inis Oírr Playground

We are proud to have a fantastic playground on Inis Oírr where you can entertain the kids if it’s not quite beach weather. It has been listed as one of the best playgrounds in Ireland by familyfriendlyhq.ie and Today FM!

The playground is in a particularly picturesque location in the valley overlooked by O’Briens Castle. This also affords a decent shelter on windy days. Be aware though that it can become quite the sun trap – so get that sun-cream on!

The playground is built on sand, and so it is naturally forgiving to the rough and tumble of energetic kids. There are picnic tables provided where you can enjoy a break from your cycle around the island.

GAA Pitch

The GAA pitch was developed and is owned by the local community. As it is also sand based, we don’t get the water logging issues that are the bane of so many other pitches on the mainland! And as it’s located beside the playground, it’s no wonder that it too has been frequently mentioned as one of the best pitches in Ireland to play upon by balls.ie and sportsjoe.ie
